Recall

Feeling lucky my airbag didn't deploy when that semi hit me in the ass a winter or two ago.

SpaceMonWine - first week of August

I'm still catching up from weeks (months? years?) of so much, I don't have the time I used to for blogging, but I at least want to mention this.  I'm thrilled to be a part of three very cool events in the next week. I'd love to see you at one or all of them.

Mad Sing Blue

Alas, I have to cancel my performance this afternoon at Mad Sing You III due to a bit of a family emergency. It'll still be a good show, probably even better without me committing an aural assault with keyboard, banjo ukulele and poems. I'm really sorry to pull out at the last minute. But first things first, you know?

Creating Silences?

“It is the job of poetry to clean up our word-clogged reality by creating silences around things.”
― Stéphane Mallarmé

I usually dislike saying poetry should or shouldn't do anything in particular. But in the moment, I like this.

7 year Crisis Chronicles Press anniversary deal

Crisis Chronicles Press has published 11 fantastic titles so far this year. That makes 71 in all since we started out back on 8 July 2008. We plan to publish at least 13 more by the end of 2015 and reach 100 titles in print by next summer. To celebrate our 7-year anniversary (and raise funds for upcoming publications) we are offering a special deal for the next 7 days only: send us $71 to receive (postage free in the U.S.) all 11 titles we've published between January and June 2015 - plus an added bonus book. That's a $95 value (more if you had to pay postage). Any takers?

This Un D'Elyrious

I recently (for the first time) stumbled upon this clip of me reading my poem "This Un" during D'Elyrious Night at the Lorain Arts Council's 737 Gallery on 15 September 2011.  Sal Kovach filmed it.  Alex Gildzen (with whom I read that night) uploaded it.  "This Un" was written in October 2010, first published in Rising in Hope: A Tinfoildresses Anthology, and finally included in my 2013 chapbook It Takes More Than Chance to Make Change.  Now the Lorain Arts Council needs our help to keep their gallery alive.  Please consider donating to the cause.

This Un

if i was nameless
my name would be
nothing
or like nothing
or unlike
if i were
nick cave
i’d be the place
where i reside
where i died
or e-did
or convinced
myself i.e. did
assuming nick
is an adjective
but i’ve been
nicked inside
and out of the cave
and i’ve been
caved in
and naked
and named things
i was and wasn’t
and am and
damned if mane
and mean
and amen
aren’t anagrams
of my name
and every other
which is also
an anagram
of o very there
which means both
nothing and whatever
you think it does
like this un
named poem
