My first appearance of 2024 will be on February 15th when the Spoken & Heard series, hosted by the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio, will present a reading by twenty contributors to the award-winning anthology I Thought I Heard A Cardinal Sing: Ohio's Appalachian Voices (edited by Ohio Poet Laureate Kari Gunter-Seymour and published by Sheila-Na-Gig). Every time a poem of mine is published, I try to post something about it here at this blog. But when I get busy, on the road, et cetera, sometimes things slip through the cracks and I forget I never did it. Here are five 2023 publications that I (almost certainly) posted about on Facebook but somehow neglected to share here. (Oops.)

I realized that I never shared here the Poetry Spotlight podcast episode where Jeremy Jusek featured several poets laureate from Ohio, including me, back in April. So here you go. I'm on for about ten minutes beginning around the 11-minute mark. On October 18th, Dustin Brookshire's Wild and Precious Life Series presented a Zoom reading by several poets who've been featured in Justin Hamm's Poet Baseball Cards. Here is video of that event:
I had the honor of being one of the readers, along with Traci Brimhall, Mary Biddinger, Sandra Marchetti, Curtis Crisler, Rick Campbell, Tony Brewer, Michael Meyerhofer, Jack Bedell, Alexis Sears, Alexis Rhone Fancher, Francine Witte, and Marcus Wicker. Around the 25:30 mark, I read two poems: "So Much for Saving" and "Tenacity."
In case you missed it, here's the video of Wednesday's reading for the Gloustershire Poetry Society. I begin around the 35-minute mark, UK Beat Poet Laureate Karlostheunhappy begins around the 1-hour mark, and the rest of the time you'll find a wonderful array of other poets to hear. Join us to celebrate the publication of Poem for Cleveland, a new anthology written by over 100 youth and elder poets. Poets will be reading their poems from this second edition of the book.
The Poem for Cleveland project was a year-long series of workshops led by Ray McNiece, former Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate and Cleveland Arts Prize Lifetime Achievement Award winner. The project culminated in the publication of the anthology by local publisher, Red Giant Press. Poem for Cleveland was made possible by the Academy of American Poets with funds from the Mellon Foundation.
McNiece worked with youth poets to present writing workshops for elder poets at various community venues, including the William N. Skirball Writers’ Center at the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Branch. Each workshop included poetry prompts about Cleveland, including favorite places, people, family memories, and growing up a Clevelander.
