Saturday: Toledo, Detroit - my last two scheduled events until February

Saturday afternoon at 2, Crisis Chronicles Press and I will join Dianne Borsenik (NightBallet Press), Azriel Johnson (Writing Knights), Juliet Cook (Blood Pudding Press) and Vertigo Xi'an Xavier (The Poet's Haven) for Meet the Presses at the Sigmond Sanger Branch Library, 3030 W. Central Avenue in Toledo, Ohio.

Then that evening at 7:30, Dianne Borsenik and I will share poetry during the Ultimate Artist Extravaganza at the SOUL Community House, 32905 Grand River Avenue in Farmington, Michigan (just outside of Detroit), as The Soul Collective of Collaborative Arts celebrates its one year anniversary. Also performing:  Natasha BeautifulThought Anée, One Single Rose, Nina Robb, Ania Ela, and Carla Dodd.  Special music by Kristopher Lamont, an exhibition of Tanya Britt's photography and an open mic!

SCCA presents Insight and Expression this Saturday

Friends at the S.O.U.L. Collective of Collaborative Arts near Detroit have recently christened their new gallery and performance space, and this Saturday several other friends and I will head up there to share poetry and celebrate with them.

August 8th from 7pm to midnight SCCA's featured poets will include me, Ohioans Dianne Borsenik and Michael Ceraolo, Erie's Chuck Joy and Thasia Anne, and Detroit's own Tawana Honeycomb Perry.  There will also be an open mic, prizes,  music, work by various local artists and more.

This event also serves as the official release celebration for Michael Ceraolo's new chapbook, Readings / The Road, published by Crisis Chronicles Press.

It all happens at The S.O.U.L. Community House, 32905 Grand River Avenue in Farmington, Michigan.  Special thanks to William Burkholder, Matvey Troitsky and Ginger Wiechers for always being so welcoming to us traveling poets.

10 in SOUL

10 of my poems appear in The Poetry of S.O.U.L.: An Anthology of Selected Works by Poets from Around the World, just published by the Soul Collective of Collaborative Arts in Farmington, Michigan.

The 10 are "Rain Blow," "Cover Girl," "Slipping Backwards Into Blue Eden," "Bier," Much Adieu," "Therefore (I Am)," "Statuesque," "Angler," "Mark This," and "John Cage Engaged and Uncaged."

This book also features poems by Zualteii Poonte, Chuck Joy, Nabina Das, Marc Creamore, Dianne Borsenik, William Burkholder, Hosain and Judy Mosavat, Matvey Troitsky, Brittany Farber and Carla Dodd.  127 pages in all.  $16.50.  All proceeds go to support the charity S.O.U.L. (Source of Universal Love).

Colliding with Cinema3956 in Detroit on 18 April

Poets Dianne Borsenik, Steven Smith, Kathy Smith and I will be reading in the Detroit area Saturday 18 April.  This is only my second Detroit area performance ever, the first being way back in 2009.  Here are more details, courtesy of the Farmington Voice:

"The Soul Collective of Collaborative Arts will host some of the area’s most talented poets and artists at an April 18 benefit for S.O.U.L. Source of Universal Love, a Farmington area charity.

The premiere Art and Poetry Event, held from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. at 23023 Orchard Lake Rd., Building C in Farmington, will feature Cleveland poets Dianne Borsenik, Kathy Smith, John Burroughs, and Steven Smith, and the artistic talents of Michigan artists Adam Klimek and Anthony Callis, creators of Cinema 3956 and flagship character 'Space Yeti.'

Callis and Klimek will display a gallery of their artistic works, along with video, and other multimedia creations. The poets will & read from their latest works and discuss their most recent projects.

Admission is free; voluntary donations will be accepted."
